What is down? for Slack

Outage alerts, in Slack.

Free, no API keys, one click. Pick a channel, pick the services your team depends on, and get one message when something goes down and one when it's back. Nothing in between.

The one-click install isn't switched on yet. In the meantime you can point Slack's own RSS app at https://what-is-down.com/feed.xml, or subscribe per service from any service page.

What you get

  • Only transitions. A six-hour outage is two messages, not sixty. Every message quotes the provider's own latest update, so you don't have to click through.
  • Your pick of 27 services. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Cloudflare, GitHub, Microsoft 365, Slack, OpenAI, Stripe, Twilio and more. Change your list any time.
  • One channel per install. Install again for a second channel with a different list — #infra watches the clouds, #support watches Zendesk and Intercom.
  • The minimum permission. We ask Slack for exactly one thing: permission to post to the channel you choose. We can't read messages, users, or anything else — there's nothing to leak.
